Of all the ppl who are using the SR1.... all have experienced problems. free flow, no flow, broken purges, adjsutment knob broken etc

Flathead7... haven't heard of any probs!

Think also about this: One of the engineers who designed the bulletproof older Sherwoods is now working for Zeagle. I know him and he's the real deal.

SR1s are not popular on the board, although I have always loved mine. I believe that they have the lowest WOB in the industry, which is nice if you are a "deep air" guy (don't start....).

However, I have never had a Zeagle, so I don't really have a point of comparison.

I was really wanting to be talked into the SR1. But the replies haven't gone that way. FH7 won by "mercy rule" pretty quick here.

Guess it's a little late but put me in the "love the old Sherwoods and would not touch the SR1" The thing is grossly over engineered with way too many parts and pieces. Odds are it will not be around a long time so parts will become hard to get quickly. The Zeagle on the other hand is a basic design very similar to an Apeks reg and many others on the market. Tried and true design with lots of support so it should be servicable for many years to come.

Interestingly, Sherwood now has an SR1+ in addition to the original SR1. The first stage body is shaped a bit differently than the original, but I suspect that the real object is to imply that it is somehow less troublesome than the original SR1.

There is also a redesigned Brut, with a first stage that is completely different from the original. I have not seen one in person yet, but it appears to have a dry sealed ambient chamber design that is similar to the SR1. I hope this is not an indication that they are going to abandon the original dry bleed design that has been responsible for Sherwood's reputation for simplicity and reliability.
