I'm new to the sport and I'm already hooked. What do you know about Sherwood Regulators? I am looking fro recreational diving depths from 20-60 max temperatures as low as 35 degrees........

azmcclain,
Don't know much about sherwood reglators, but I would recommend that what ever you buy, make sure it has an environmentaly sealed 1st stage. Last thing you want is for it to freeze up on ya.
I say this because when ever a gas flows underpressure it reduces the temperature of the surrounding material. At 35 degrees all you need to do is lower the primary temp by 3 degrees and you got the potential for a freeze up. The only way to fix a freeze up to TURN your gas off. The good part is that when a primary freezes it usually freezes open.

I dive a Blizzard and have dove in temps to 36 degrees with absolutely no problems at depths to 119 feet. I feel it's a fine regulator.

Sherwood Regs are workhorses. They are a good solid regulator.

I just got a new Sherwood Maximu and I love it. It has low jaw stress and grate moisture retention. Look into it, you might like it.

I've got the Oasis. It is good with no problems at all, and the "moisture-plates" do help prevent dry mouth.
One thing to consider when getting a reg (or any gear really) is how close is the service, does an LDS near you service Sherwood gear?

I have one that I never used before. I did some work for my neighbor and he gave to to me. Ive been using my Apex.
its a Sherwood Max with a 2nd stage with the metal in it to keep from getting cotton mouth. It also has the under arm hose routing for the 2nd stage but the Octo is older and just a standard backup. perfice for rec diving. I was saving the reg for my doubles this summer. so I hope to have some feed back for you. but Im also looking to mabe sell it so if your interested shoot me a pm.

Sherwood seems to be the Chevy in a Ferarri world these days. I have a Brut which has been lots of sandy beach dives and it has never had any problems. The little bubble stream does not bother me but but if I happen to dive WPB I get taps on the shoulder and some one telling me it is leaking.

Sherwood regs seem to work fine. Depending on where you dive you might get down the nose looks from Apex, Atomic, Scubapro people. The little brut just does not have the bling to pick up the chicks like my Legend with the gold ring... if I could only get a bearing for it to spin.. then I'd really be fly.

If you dive cold waters and like to have a work horse Sherwoods the way to go! They have a great price, will not freeze and can be rebuilt in no time!
I have a Sherwood Blizard-dive it to 165FSW and it works fine at depth as it works at rec range,
If some one tells you they have one that breathes hard tell em to get her seviced by a sherwood deale/service rep!
Dive safe
