If I had to pick between the two, I would go Sherwood. My rationale is simple. Their regs are simple, yet very reliable and overall the parts for servicing them are cheaper. When you compare what you would spend over the lifetime of the reg I have found that the AL parts kits are more expensive. I am not overly familiar with their respective warranties, but you may want to compare the two warranties, add in your initial purchase price and do some research with your local dive shop to find out how much the parts kits are for each of the regs you are considering. That will yield the best bang for the buck. When I was first getting into diving, I went the AL route and found as my experience grew, I wanted a regulator that gave me more control over my breathing resistance. I went Scubapro at that point. I also have a few vintage regulators that I purchased on Ebay that were an absolute steal. I bought them and rebuilt them myself and saved quite a bit. I also am a regulator service tech, so I can do that.

My first reg was a used Sherwood Oasis from a rental fleet. It was an extremely simple and ruged design that was wet when upside down but it always delivered air when I needed it and I used it exclusively for my first 3 years of diving. Then fast-forward several years and several thousand dollars on various regulators over the year and last year I buy a Titan LX. It is my new favorite warm-water reg and will probably replace one of my heavier rigs for travel. There is no comparison to the work of breathing between the Sherwood design and the Titan LX. The LX is a joy to dive down to 130' and I may buy the environmental seal to expand its versitility into the colder waters closer to home. The only Sherwood design I would consider buying now would be the Blizzard first stage if I ever took up ice diving on a regular basis. The things are bombproof and proven under the ice.

If you want to go into the rental business then you should go with the Brut.
But if you are looking for a personal quality regulator The Aqualung will be your best choice....

Thanks
