Pulled out BC out of dive bag, setup on tank and tried to inflate but it wouldn't. Noticed the upper tip of the power inflator set-up was unscrewed. Collected all the pieces and sorta guessed how it might have been properly setup. Inflates properly and stays inflated. Dove(sp?) with on a couple of shallow dives with no problem. Currently on dive vacation. Should I keep diving with it or sideline til I get back to US? Currently in the boonies in the Philippines where there is no repair shop close by. Thnx for all the help.

If it seems secure and there aren't any cracks it should be good. Might want to inflate it and see if any air has escaped over night.

There is a safety recall for the Sherwood Freedom BC power inflator valve. In rare instances the inflator can get stuck and cause the inflator to continously inflate.
That could be a major problem at depth.
I have the same BC but am not affected since my ser. numbers don't match the recall numbers.
Freedom BCD's afected were models purchased after July1, 2003 with a serial number between 90010001 and 90350167.

This is the safety recall posted by Sherwood!

Hope this helps.

My freedom has "almost" done the same, but I caught it before it came off. I just screwed it back and It has been fine since.

Enjoy the boonies

Good thing I posted. I'll have to turn mine in for service coz it matches the recall numbers. Dove with it in the Phil and never had a problem again and I loved it. Thanks for the recall info.
