Is knowing that something is impossible a reason good enough not to try?

I will never give up trying even if the chances are slim that it will work. This for one simple reason, I could not live with myself sitting on the couch thinking "They should do something about that"... When my grand kids ask me why there are no sharks left I would not like to be one of those who cannot say "At least we tried"
