I don't speak French, but did it say something about a Tiger? Is that a Tiger shark? Also wonder why a shark is naturally afraid of a dolphin? Maybe I'll start tying a big fake dolphin dummy to tow just behind. LOL

There was no attack...period. Are we going to debate the sharks motives for days? Bottomline is the shark never even touched the woman and therefore no attack occurred. And we also dont know the reasoning for dolphin to do what it did...but if you want we can open another thread and debate those actions.....I'll get a dolphin expert from the Shedd Aquarium to have a live webcast on the subject and we'll sell tickets and promote it...it will be great.

DUDE,
You have some real issues!
The point is the shark did a run up! The dolphin did make some type of move down, As I am not a expert it was real neat if it was as said to maybe help out a human?COOL!
Something to learn from for folks on thease cattle boat drops to swim with the Dolphins or shark feeds.
Now you the Shedd wow your a insider too?D___M! let's get a pro on the subject I will tune in!
Oh by the way are they the ones with the Aquarium down south that pulled a permit in the Bahamas and raped the Bahamian waters of tropicals ? and will not even post were the fish were taken from? The Shedd will never see one dime from this cheesehead NEVER!
my 3 cents,
Dive safe.

For the killer whale video, just google "killer whale great white video" .... but you will be disappointed. It doesn't show anything worth your time.

Been there done that. That was different footage (from CNN). I remember about five or six years ago, there was a lovely top down view shot from a helicopter of the same or a similar situation at the Farallons (hey mommy, I learned to spell!). It was all over the local news in San Francisco.

News footage from that time showed the shark roll in with open mouth, whale charged around and butted or bit it (I forget) and shark went boom. I found the CNN footage to be....lacking.

Here's a quick translation of the text:

A legend from ancient Greece says that Arion, following a shipwreck, was saved from a shark attack by dolphins.

Over the course of time, there have been numerous accounts supporting this legend, but no visual proof existed. Until this day in 2003.

Attack of a Tiger shark on a woman in the Bahamas.

The Tiger shark (approx. 2.5 meters) climbs towards the woman.

5 dolphins form a line facing the predator.

The woman is still unaware of the shark's presence, despite the alert shouted by her friends.

One of the dolphins dives to chase off the shark.

This interaction between animal and man enlightens us a bit more of the behaviour of dolphins towards the human species. In taking the defense of this woman, this mammal has made us understand that it is endowed with feelings similar to our own. And it has just confirmed the legend of Arion.

I've heard several stories about dolphins coming to the aid of people in the water, deterring sharks and what have you; whether they are true or not, who knows, I wasn't there for any of them...Ya know we all evolved from the ocean long ago right? So I guess it's not hard to believe that dolphins look out for us ;) (ducks from flying tomatoes) :D

Anyhow, I've seen many Tiger Sharks and that did not look like a Tiger in the video...more like some sort of reef shark, but that's irrelevant I guess....:14:

Oh, and if that was a "French" Shark....it probably got scared and swam away at the first sight of anything....;)
