Its different. I liked it. (but there are some errors. The part where the helicopter comes to pick up the father and son is the exact opposite of Shadow divers)

that difference makes me crazy!!!! I would like both authors together and figure out the real story .

Diesel298:
yeah, i noticed that.
i wnder what one is correct
Shadow Divers

Hey, PF a thread we can agree on.

I read The Last Dive first and now I'm into Shadow. They're both very interesting (to date). They're kinda like Part I and Part II for the U-Who but the Last Dive really goes into the relationship between father and son and how that contributed to the accident. Further, Bernie Chowdhury is writer and writes from a diver's perspective.

I felt like he used the incident to write HIS dive story, because it would sell a book, and not REALLY the story of Chris and Chrissy. I felt like Shadow Divers was the whole story of the mystery of the boat, and a great diving adventure with these two characters being a central part of the story. Such a tragedy really. I likes Shadow Divers WAY better.

If we ever disagreed, I don't recall it? You don't use a snorkel and I do? :)

Anyway, you think it's a good read? Wait till the end of Shadow Divers and Chatterton is in the sub alone, running low on air, stuff falling, 230 ft below for the final proof and you might get anxieties like I did reading it.

Why would you say something like that and spoil it for the folks that haven't finished reading the book yet?

JeffG:
Shadow Divers

Are you sure? Why? It is the one I believe as well. I can't really say why except it seems like the Coast Guard not leaving one even if no hope might be a likely protocol.

and remember John C was a medic in Vietnam. He would of known the father was gone, and why waste the time. The son needed to get to a chamber ASAP.

I believe Make Barrnet (sp?) confirmed this "version" on TDS

:11: NOOOOOO!!!! Don't spoil for me. Just for the that here are the endings on all the movies out there:

Passion of Christ ... the main character dies.
Revenge of the Seth ... Skywalker dies (eventually).
Kingdom of Heaven ... the Christians lose.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith .... they have a minor spat and get back together.
Shrek 2 ... They're still green.

;)

Hmmm

Shadow Divers
im goin on your theory because chatterton and kohler where advisors or sorts for shadow divers..
but who knows for sure but the people who where there
plus im sure whatever decision was made was based on protocall and no amount of arguing would change that.....
reason two shadow divers might be the correct version

Can't wait for this movie to come out!
I think shadow divers was slightly more accurate beacuse Chatterton was there...(the guy that wrote the last dive was a friend...but I'm pretty sure he wasn't actually present).

Shadow divers was a lot better than The last dive. The last dive had a lot of basic info at the beginning which was kind of boring...shadow divers told several stories. It was interesting to see the u-boat crew's perspective on the war. Chatterton and Kohler definately deserve fame for what they did...they were the pioneers of deep diving fo the 90's.

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting John Chatterton, Richie Kolher and the author at a book signing in New Cannan, CT. Both impressed me as being regular guys who really had an genuine interest in solving the mystery of identifing the sub. Richie told me that they have been hired as Technical Advisors for the movie which should be out by next summer. I was happy to see that they mentioned Capt Billy Palmer in the book. It was him that told them to look for the spare parts boxes that identified the sub. He's quite a character and a member of my dive club. I can't wait to see the movie.
