Hey all - new diver here. I spent last week vacationing with my family in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The resort where we stayed had a diving center. I've always enjoyed snorkeling and the water in general, so I gave it a shot. Long story short - I had a lot of fun and probably found a new (part time) hobby. Anyway, I ended up getting the PADI Scuba Diver Certification at the resort. The instructors were really good and I felt really comfortable with the equipment and being in the water from the beginning. I didn't really have time to do the Open Water Certification while I was there, but now that I am home I would like to so that I can get some more experience doing dives. I've looked around at local diving schools and all of them start with the full Open Water Certification classes, which includes material I have already learned. Can anyone give me some good recommendations for a diving school in the SF Bay Area that will give me credit for the certification that I already have and let me upgrade to an Open Water Certification? Thanks!

you would have to ask about upgrading to OW. most of the dive shops really only run full OW classes. most people seem to be getting certified at any water or diver dan's. a few at wallins.

city - bamboo reef sf

east bay - steele's (oakland) and AAA Scuba (alameda)

south bay - Diver Dan's, Any Water Sports, Pacific Scuba (all santa clara or san jose)

peninsula - wallins (san mateo)
