Is there a special kind of threading that should be used if you want to sew a Quick release on to your webbing?

MSilvia:I haven't done it for a quick release, but when I sew webbing I usually use a heavy duty waxed upholstery-style thread. My sewing awl came with a spool of it.

awap:If you are just trying to get a little more room for the occasional difficult exit, a QR buckle can be added without cutting that will still get you an extra few inches if you nedd it.
CALI68:How????
awap:I added a QR buckel low on my left shoulder strap. It left a loop when the buckle is connectd that I gather up with a couple pieces of inner tube. If I release the buckle, it makes the strap about 6 inches longer.
I did this after having some trouble getting out of my rig while floating on the surface the first time I tried it. Turns out that with a little more practice, it really isn't that difficult so I have never used it since.
I'll take some pictures and post them if you would like. But if your reason is the same as mine, spending a few hours practicing rather than rigging the buckle may be better.
