I’ve heard “mares” like the horses, and “mar-rays”. I’ve also heard “mar-ress”.
I’m guessing the third one.
Never heard “mars” like the planet.

Correct way to pronounce MARES?

Since the Mares people just returned from Italy, could one of you (Zak or Phil) please give us the "correct" pronunciation of the brand? I've heard it a couple of different ways. Mayors (city officials) Mars (the red planet) Mar-rees (2 syllables like marries except with a long "r") None...

In Italian we pronounce as it is written. So "mares"
"a" in Italian is pronounced as the initial of English' "up".
"e" is pronounced as the initial of English' "excuse".

I've always just called it Mares (same as a group of female horses) and the dive shop still takes my money if I buy one or have one serviced..... so it must be right !
