Ok, so I'm setting up my first set of doubles and I'm wondering how/if I should modify my gear....?

I have a SP MK25TA/S600T I'll be converting to DIN shortly, my original octo is an SP R380 and an SP MK25AF thats already DIN.

I'm thinking using the MK25AF and S600T as primary and the MK25TA/R380 as secondary.

Does this config make sense?
Should I be looking to get a better performing second stage as a backup?
Should I relegate the MK25TA/R380 as a stage regulator? - If so I'd probably pick up an Apeks ATX200.

I'm looking to take Adv. Nitrox/Dec Proc. over the next year or so.

The 380 will work fine.
Using a Mk25 on a deco bottle would be a waste to me. Get Mk2+.
I personally don't care for the hose arrangement the ATX200 forces you to use, and see no reason not to use the Mk25's you already have.

Good luck on your classes.

Aren't you normally going to be on deco for a good long time on non-He mixes? Won't you want a nice high performance reg for that?

I don't know why you would want something so high end that you are going to use as an octo. I would keep the 2 MK25's that you have for first stages on your doubles, but when you are looking for something to outfit your stage bottle take a gander at the Apeks ATX40/DS4 combo that is nitrox clean with green and yellow ID colouring on it. It is a high performance reg that will not run a high performance price. the DS4 is environmentally sealed so you don't have to worry about it being contaminated either.
