The predominant wetsuit colors seem to be black with either blue or yellow highlights. Of course there are also some shockingly bright ones that seem to look best on nubile, young, LITTLE lasses. Well I'm none of those so no worries there.

My question is why do so many people (everyone I have seen so far) choose the blue instead of yellow? I would have thought yellow would be good for visibility. Does it scare away the fishies? As if my thrashing will not. Or are divers just the shy, retiring, wallflower types? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA - not from what I've seen!

Not to worry, my questions will continue to plumbs the depths of stupidity. It keeps me humble - as if there was a choice:11doh:

I believe that people fear the yellow wetsuits because of sharks "attraction" to "yum yum yellow"

Now you've done it. You've invoked the wrath of the fashion police!!
You would not believe the amount of surf magazine ink that was consumed in the raging debate about colorerd wetsuits when they first showed up in the 70's. Some people saw it as a sign of the apocalypse. If you had colored suit it meant you were "pursuing and alternate lifestyle" for sure. ( not that there's anything wrong with that)

Divers like blue because it's nautical & aqautic. Yellow is for taxi-cabs.

So what colour wetsuit do YOU have, tparrent?

Hehe, I have a boooring black wetsuit.
However if you look hard enough on the net you can find some custom wetsuits in some truly garish patterns and styles...
I've personally seen plaid and wetsuits that look like they came from a tie-dye convention.

On land you'll blind your fellow divers and passerby's and underwater............. well you'll be noticeable :D.

Oh and as for your title hehe........, magnificent.

I chose the yellow highlights. What can I say? I love to be shark bait.:D

Paisley would be nice. Or maybe a nice floral design. No, vertical strips to make me look thinner. I know... bright white!

I have always liked blue... so naturally some of my wetsuit has blue in it.

I'd be more worried about a complete black set up as you thrash about on the surface like a seal. Bet that looks yummy!!! :D

I think wetsuit manufactures aren’t in business to loose money. So, they move into fashion areas with caution.

I have seen a lot of yellow lately and on guys too, so maybe it is becoming more acceptable. Maybe it's a statement on how secure they are with their sexuality or maybe they're afraid of not being seen. But, yellow is becoming more prevalent.

I am noticing more neon colors too. So, if you wait a bit, maybe you can join the color revolution/evolution...

I once wore a neon yellow mask on a snorkel expedition.

The entire time I had a bunch of fish trying to mate with my face...

...very traumatic experience for me.

I used to dive in a gorgeous custom wetsuit that was yellow with diagonal splashes of teal and black that started on one shoulder across the torso and down the leg. And I had a teal bc, yellow booties and teal and yellow gloves. I did some modeling for a couple of friends that did underwater photographry and WOW, did I look great! Now that my body has settled into a more mature (40 something) shape, I dive in wetsuits that are black with blue trim, and with blue gear such as bc, mask, snorkel, gloves and light. I figure, why not wear black and blue to match the bruises I inevitably sprout after diving?
