Is it a bad idea to service your own BCD. I rebuild my own engines repair my brakes and train my horses. How tough could a low pressure inflator be? I have an Aqua Lung Black Diamond and a Genesis Athena. Neither have the AAS attached. Both only get 20-30 dives a year.

The inflator button on most has a valve stem set up underneath, just like on a car or bicycle inner tube.

They really are simple devices, but you may want to check with the manufacter if it is still under warrenty ... also once a year, my lcs does a class on basic maintenance ...
