I received a Seiko 300m Hi-Beat Automatic Profossional Dive watch from an ex-diver that use to be active many years ago (ex navy diver). This watch is discribed on the net as the "Grand Seiko Diver" or said to be the Kahuna of dive watches for its time. It was first made in 1968 and production ceased in the early 70's. It is not as technologically advanced as the dive computers and gadgets that you get these days but it is a very nice looking watch. The strap went years ago and I even phoned Seiko head office to see if I can get a replacement strap for it. They just told me that the watch went out of production years ago and they do not make these straps anymore. Is there someone that knows were I can find a original strap for this fine watch?

I don't know where you can get an original band. I use a velcro band that goes through both pins. The disadvantage of the original band is that if one of the pins lets go, you've lost the watch. It happened to a friend of mine.

Thanks for the reply. When I got the watch it had a valcro strap on it but it looked like horse $#!^. I replaced it with a normal rubber strap until I could find an original one but it seems I am running out of luck. I dont really want to dive with it because as there are loads of better dive computers or watches these days but just to ware as a dress watch.

I think the only place where I am going to find this is at a collector or hit a luck at a pawn shop...:confined:

What you need to get are what is called NATO straps. These are a high quality nylon strap that runs through both pins for redundant attachment and looks great on that watch. Visit the website ---- equationoftime.com. Look around and you will see a dive watch forum, ask them for specific vendors of the NATO type straps, they are inexpensive and very nice. I have such a strap on one of my divers and like it very much.

that is a great watch by the way.

Thanks a lot for the help. You will not believe it but I actualy managed to get a original strap from the Seiko headoffice in Canada.... Canada of all places. It was the last one that they had and was in a box there for years.... I think the guy was greatfull to get rid of it because it has been there for years...

I enjoy the watch very much and now that it is completely original I am very chuffed...

sucker4cuba, I still suggest a NATO strap for use diving and other rugged activities. Hate for you to loose it. Also, it would allow you to preserve the rubber strap for non diving use when you just want to show the watch off with it's original strap.
Oh, congrats on finding the strap, I know you will enjoy that wach. N
