Seen in Monterey - identify this critter

Hi:

I encountered this spherical, diaphanous, 10 inch diameter object at the Ball Buster dive site in Monterey last weekend. The photos shows two separate instances of this organism, both with a distinctive fringe pattern on top. Any ideas on what it is?
