We stayed at Residencias Reef next door to Secrets at the end of April and it was $10/day per person for Secrets pier usage. We had a car so we drove to the "new" marina each day to go diving with Alex Adventures Cozumel (it was great!). Didn't feel like paying $20/day when we had a car.

You could take a cab for about the same amount. It really stinks. The advantage of getting picked up at the pier is that you can take time for a leisurely breakfast before the boat arrives. I’m really irritated about this.

We are booked with them for an upcoming trip and I’m seriously considering trying to change it. Not that they will care. There will be someone behind me, ready to take our room. But they make SO much money on us. We don’t drink alcohol, we eat lunch on the dive boat, and we don’t eat much anyway. We’re the ‘cheapest dates’ around!!! Grrrrrrr.

Secrets is way over priced for what they offer in Cozumel. Went once and found far better value elsewhere (Palace, FA and Explorean).

As I remember, one of the southern resorts started all this with a US$2.00 docking fee a few years ago when they had to rebuild a dock after a storm; now other hotels have started doing it and the fees are going up.

When I stay at Residencias Reef and use the Secrets Pier, I hear a lot of grumblings about the Secrets resort. Of all the AI options on the island, I think Secrets get more complaints than others. For the southern AI places, I think I hear the fewest grumblings about Iberostar. You are right about the convenience of finishing coffee and getting a slightly later pick up. I love staying at RR, but $10 a day is pushing me into the red zone. In the future, I will probably buck it up on day one when I have all my dive gear. Since Bottom Time Divers stores my gear, the walk to the pier at San Francisco beach club is doable.

Do they let you use the san francisco pier for no charge? I also stay at RR and am tired of secrets fees
