Hi everyone. I just ran across this board today and decided to sign up. I have been diving out of Morehead City and Hatteras for the past 4 years. I do just fine until the seas get up to around 5 feet(which is pretty frequent) then I tend to get a little sick. Bonine don't work and the skin patch makes me feel like crap. I was thinking about buying one of these electronc devices you wear on your wrist called a Relie band. Has anyone used one of these things before? Does anyone know if it works or not. They cost about $80 to $100 and I don't want to waste my money if its not going to work. Thanks for any info.

Sporty's pilot shop sells the Relief Band for $100 and it is FDA approved.

You can also find a set of wrist bands that apply pressure to a point on the inside of your wrist (the P6 accupressure point about 2 finger widths up from the crease where your wrist meets your hand) and they seem to work well for many people. I have also heard that the buttons on the bands should also be magnetic to get the full effect and that seems to be in line with what the Relief Band does with electric current.

You can also find ginger capsules that also seem to work for some people. I used to have problems with relatively low time student pilots who could not seem to grasp the concept of coordinated turns and would have me feeling nauseous 5 minutes into the flight.

The plain old pressure bands worked well for me but then again the effect could have been entirely psychological. They will only cost you 10-15 bucks at most drug stores so they are worth a try. They are also used for other types of nausea where drugs may not be adviseable (pregnant ladies etc.)

Hey ncwes, my entire family has used the low price pressure bands and they seem to work fine. My wife has seasickness problems on pretty much any dive boat we go on. She started wearing these about two years ago and solved the problem.
And by the way, welcome to SB!
