They charged you $35 for a new pocket! those pocket are only about $12 retail. The dive shop should have given you one whether or not it was your fault that you lost the weight pocket. Always have a buddy check your equiptment befor entering the water. The pocket may not have been securly velcroed. Glad you like the Seaquest ProQD since we sell it at Down Under SCUBA in Spring Hill Florida (Shameless plug).

One thing I would advise anyone.....no matter what you have to do....no matter
how far you have to drive....try your new gear out in a pool first. I am sure I will get blasted for that but your experience could have come out much worse
than just an uncooperative company.

If I have some doubts about a new piece of gear I'll bring along a backup, but why waste time jumping into a pool when you can go do a real dive instead? [/digression]

I've always taken "Try it in the pool" as meaing in a "safe" situation as opposed to out on a boat, on a deep dive, a night dive, a dive in heavy seas or anything else that can contribute to task loading if there ends up being a problem or learning curve associated with the new gear. Any easy, familiar site should suffice for general gear shakedown.

The pool is oten the only allowable way to try before you buy is the shop is so equipped.

I have the Pro QD+ with SL, and have made a point of checking the weight pocket's security *after* I'm in the water. If I'm not sure, I'll even unclip it, then reclip it underwater. You can hear that loud click there, too!

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with the BC. I bought my first ProQD+ (with Surelock) as my 1st BCD. Never have problems securing the weight pockets with as much as having 6 lbs of weight in each pocket. There could be a defect on the Surelock thingy (just pure guesses). In any case, the problem will be fixed. It is a nice BC jacket.

I have switched to BP+Wing setup also. So my ProQD+ is currently sitting as spare. I will probably use it for my DM classes and assistances instructors in certification.

I have two of these BC's, both with surelock. My daughter tried to put the weight pocket in backwards once, and it fell out (luckily still on land). I'm surprised she actually got it to go, but she did. Are you sure it was in the right way (with the weights closest to you, and the hard smooth part toward the outside)? Since that, I haven't ever had one come out, and we've had a LOT of weight in them too.

I've had my Pro QD+ loaded with around 13lbs per side without a problem. When you insert the weights, use the ring on the BC next to the weight pockets to help push the weights all the way into the pocket. You should then be able to snap the lock in (and hear the clip) with little effort. If you are having trouble getting the lock to "click" in, then you probably don't have the weight inserts pushed far enough into the pockets. Check to make sure the velcro flaps on the inserts aren't inteferring with pushing the inserts all of the way back into the pocket.
