Just purchased a SeaQuest Libra BC. Tried it out in the pool and seemed fine. Used it on a lake dive this weekend and seemed fine at beginning of dive but had extreme buoyancy control issues; listing to one side; difficulty deflating -- at one point during the dive when I rolled slightly to one side it gave a hush whoosh of air -- surfaced right after and discovered BC would not inflate.

After near drowning experience -- made it back to boat and discovered that the cap where the integrated system screws in had apparently 'blown off' during the dive.

Purchased the SeaQuest Balance BC for my son several months ago -- he just got a chance to use it recently, however, and his had a light leak. The dive shop messed with it and said it was "cross threaded" -- his seemed to be fine on the lake dive Sunday but I have to say I am beginning to wonder if there is a defect with the design of this BC.

Anyone else have an opinion?

I have the Libra, my dad has the Balance and we've not had any problems.. (only have about 10 and 12 dives on each). They have been fine with buoyancy as well. I haven't heard of this happening either. Maybe others have?? Good luckk, hope everything works out with them.

Sounds like that the cap for the integrated inflator hose may not have been attached tightly. Why is this? I couldn't guess. I am getting a Balance BC in the next few days. Unfortunately the Libra is not manufactured big enough to accommodate both myself & my drysuit with thick undergarments. I got it because I am looking for a light weight BC that will travel well. I have an Oceanic Hera that I teach classes in & love the fit & feel of it, but it doesn't travel very well (heavy & bulky). The Balance is one of the top selling BC's at our shop. In fact I have only very rarely seen one come back with any problems of any sort.
