Buying the Black Diamond BC, my question is should I go with the Sea-Quest Air Source (intgrated 2nd stage w/ bc airfill) or a regular octo??

LDS is pushing the Air Source, but of course would be willing to sell me an octo.

Primary reg is AT200

You will find a lot of info if you do a search.

I used one for 5 years and I really liked it. I still use it when I am diving in the winter with singles. The most unreliable piece of equipment in any rig (in my experience) is the inflator and it does not matter if it's an alternate air source or a regular inflator. I am impressed with how well it breaths.

I have hte Black Diamond and the AirSource inflator/octo. I use it is as a primary every time I dive to check it and be comfortable with it. It works great as an inflator.

I like my seaQuest air source, one problem I've had is the damn thing got loose from me man handling the thing (or so the LDS says), the zip tie was replaced however, it has come loose 3 more times since (less than a year old)I believe the hose is damaged inside and demanded an entire new one be placed on it this time, and the metal cord inside the hose used for dumping air broke. Everything is under warranty, and I will continue to us it when I get it back from the shop, just wanted you to know some of the things that could happen although I've been assured (by the LDS) it's rare.

best of luck

Mine has worked well for a little over two years. I called the company...twice...and was told it was designed to be used as a pull dump and should cause no problems. If you are having problems it might be because you are just pulling too hard. IT doesnt take much!!
The thing I like about it is I dive a pony all the time and it helps get rid of another reg. However having said that....I just got bp and wing and dont plan to put an airsource of any brand on it....jury is really still out on that one.

(At least TSA has changed the rules on pony bottles...ok to fly now...)
