Due to a broken molar being removed over a month ago, the mouthpiece on my reg now digs right into the empty socket causing bleeding and tenderness.

Until all the work is done for the implant, I figured the solution would be to get a mouthpirece with an extended bite area like the Jax or SeaCure.

Any recommendations? Is one better than the other?

FLL Diver,

Sounds like your socket may not quite be healed and the tabs on the bite are digging in.

A SeaCure might help. So could trimming the tab that digs into the extraction site. The JAX appears to be almost identical to the SeaCure.

If you have no other teeth to engage the tab on that side than the custom bite may help but it will be very difficult to obtain a registration without opposing teeth.

The US Divers Comfo-bite doesn't rely on the bite tabs.

Thanks for the feedback. What you describe is exactly what's happening - it's the tabs on the bite.

I did go the shop today and look at a Comfo-Bite first since my reg is an Auqalung. But I didn't get it as it's similar to the my current mouthpiece with the tabs on the end.

I bought a Jax, but returned it before customizing it as it doesn't fit my reg. So I am now in possesion of a SeaCure II that I will install and test tomorrow.
