Hi. Just a report on the Bonneville seabase in UT. I did 2 dives there yesterday. It is definitely worth the trip--bring romaine lettuce for the angelfish--I was just mobbed by them. It was really a neat experience. The viz was awful--maybe 5', so it can be very disorienting, I almost smacked into one of the nursesharks! It's worth it, I thought, particularly if you are already in SLC. They are working on trying to improve viz with bubblers to aerate the water more and deal with the algae. If you can get there when they are feeding the fish, do so (around 8:30). THe jacks get into a frenzy. The abyss dive wasn't too much--60's down a tube.

Sad to say over the years the vis has never gotten better! Better places to dive around slc then Seabase. Once is usually enough

I'm down in St. George, and I've been thinking of taking my Boy Scouts up to the Seabase to take them snorkeling. Would there be a better location for that?

Well the best thing to do is call seabase and talk to Linda. She can tell you what the Vis is like. Most the time pretty poor. It may get clear for about 3-5 days and then back to bad again. Here is their website if you dont already have it. www.seabase.net

I have heard the best day to dive at the Seabase is in the middle of the week when not so many people are there, but I bet the visibility won't improve much.
