On a snorkel trip in Noumea a couple of years ago, our snorkel guide pointed out several sea snakes in the water, and then thought it was great sport to play with/handle a 1.5' sea snake he came across on the shore. Although he assured us we would be in no danger handling the snake because it had a small mouth and teeth, we politely declined, but thought he was a real moron, especially since he was a very long way from medical care. We make it a point to not handle/harass any wildlife, and more so for those that can kill us.
