So I bought the DIY Suunto Interface from Ebay. And I follow the instructions on soldering and connecting it the 2nd hand mosquito I got.

Check the ports, etc. and SDM will not detect the Mosquito. It's driving me crazy..the only thing I want to do is clear the max depth. All this work for something so little. Anyways, I dont know why It won't detect the dive computer.

This is what I bought

Soldering to wires and connecting it to the Suunto is no brain surgery. Anybody have any tips to share? or advice?

I will try to take some pictures once I get my Digital Camera Back.

Thanks

I've suffered through the same with my D3 at times. Threats of violence rarely worked...if not for the infrequent times that it does work I'd have backed over it by now. The device came pre-assembled (good quality), and appears to work less often when using a USB-serial adapter using Prolific drivers for XP. I had hoped to download the profiles from my last dive tonight but couldn't get past finding the device. I'm still trying to get it to work...I'll keep you updated.

After doing much more research. I read that the older version 1.6 would detect the interface. I un-install version 2.2.0 and then install version 1.6..and BAM!! it works.

Hhhheeeesusssss. Suunto needs to hire better programmers. I spent like 5 hours soldering-desoldering..checking connections.. and it was software related.

I also read that people have gotten it to work with version 2.2.0 I dont know how..maybe by doing an upgrade. But for now I will keep this version.

Tomorrow I will get a USB-Serial adapter and try...even better a Bluetooth Serial Adapter.

I use a DIY interface which works without problems with SDM versions 1.XX and also with version 2.15.
I tried the DIY interface with version 2.2 and it does not work. Back to 2.15 everything works perfect.

Solution? Keep using version 2.15, send Suunto a complaint that version 2.2 does not work with DIY interfaces ;)

Ive failed to get any V2 to work with my DIY interface so im still on v1.6 (which in my view works better anyway)

I bought the Suunto vyper and COULD NOT get it to tranfer. The instructions didn't say that when you go into transfer mode and it says select you need to hit the button again so it says quit on the screen. That was such an easy fix and nowhere in the instruction book. maybe that is what the problem is for you. Good luck!

The only way I can get anything to interface with V2 is to use the Other Computer selction when selecting what computer i'm connecting too. I had to buy a serial to USB adapter and it finally worked that way. It used to work perfectly with the first version though. I'd go back but I like some of the features of the new software better.

Ladies and Gents,

I spoke to early last night. After trying version 1.6, The software can detect the Suunto PC Interface...but that doesn't mean it can detect my computer. :-(

After 3 more hours today I am still unable to download anything from it. I downloaded this software to monitor Serial Communications..and it seems the Suunto is not sending data back to my computer which timesout.

Where to go from there?? I dont know..as of now I give up.
