These look like nice travel jackets to me but i have never seen anyone mention using them before. I was thinking of gettig one instead of the Cressi Aqualight as it has a few more metal D rings. Has any one used one at all?

We recently did a budget BCD test and this was in it. It is much the same as the previous Glide 1000, albeit it with new graphics, etc. It has zippered pockets now instead of Velcro, and it is fairly lightweight for travelling, the only downside we found was that it didn't have any integrated weight pockets, and in this price bracket, other jackets, such as the Mares, did. Still, I like Scubapro BCDs, and think their compact power inflator is still one of the best on the market.

Thanks for the advice mark. So what did you rate most out of the test?

In the Under £250 bracket, the test team liked the Mares Vector Epic, which came in at £239. This has two pull dump valves, two zippered pockets, is made from 420 denier material, and has the Mares MRS integrated weight system.

In the UK, the Scubapro T-Sport retails for the same amount. The IST Saturn also came out well, but that costs £249.

Walter:
I would consider that a good thing.

Depends, Walter. You obviously don't like integrated weights, I do. I only need 2-4kg depending on the thickness of my suit, so the integrated weight pockets on my Scubapro Glide Tek Pro wing are more than adequate to hold 1-2kg per side, and they are a lot less hassle than a belt. I can remove them quickly if I need to, and they are extremely secure otherwise, so what's the problem?

My view on integrated weights is, if a jacket has them, them you can use them if you want, or you can choose not to. If it hasn't got them at all, you don't have that choice.

That's my point, Mark. It's not a "downside." It is a personal preference. If it had poorly designed weight pockets, that would be a down side.

I agree that if it had poorly designed integrated weights, that would be a downside. What I said was it was a shame that it didn't have integrated weights when others in that price bracket do – and by that I meant have the same integrated weight system fitted to the T-Force and T-Black, Scubapro's tried-and-tested pinch-clip system, which I happen to think is one of the simplest yet most secure systems on the market. I wouldn't want them to put some cheap-arse effort on the BCD – in that case, it would be better off not having them in the first place – I just think it would have been a good idea for them to include integrated weights on this jacket for the price in light of what the competition are doing.
