I have a brand new reg that's got a whistling problem what is this it has less than 10 dives on it

Hi Opie. There was a very detailed thread about this not long back, possibly in the reg section. Short answer from the peanut gallery was it could be coming from either your first or second stage and likely a quick adjustment from a technician to fix it.

Do you get it whistling on the surface or underwater? Some of my regs do it on the surface but not underwater. Its the piston resonating. I got this one one of my brand new MK25 and fix was very easy - Lubrication of the piston steam.

Underwater is where I noticed it the most n its not on every inhale/exhale just kinda random

It needs some lube on the piston as mentioned above.

Is that something I can do or does it have to be done by a tech

If you have to ask this question then yes it needs to be done by a tech.:) No Im not being mean or rude. There are some tools involved and you need to tune the reg afterwards. If you had tool the lube and know how to do it it would be a 15 mins job.

I'm very mechanical inclinded as that's what I do for a living but I've never messed with any scuba gear so I guess it needs to go in
