I have a line on a used Scubapro mk-14 1st stage, but I haven't seen a whole lot about it on the web. Can anyone offer their opinion on this reg? I'm a beginner diver, who happens to be a poor grad student, and I'm trying to assemble all of the necessary gear. I will be diving on the NH seacoast as well as some inland lakes. I will be doing some cold water dives (spring in the Gulf of Maine and maybe some freshwater ice dives too).

Thanks

I dont use it but I have a few friends that do. All of them report that it is a great regulator. Since we dive in the cold Monterey water I can report that it does great in those tempature ranges(40 - 60F). Its preformance in the ice I have no clue on. This is something that you may have to call the manufacturer on as in ice conditions a reg can litteraly freez on you. So make sure you find out its mimimum temp usage before jumping in the ice.

not sure on the MK14 but I have the MK16/S550. It's a great reg and I've had no problems in temperatures as low as 5 degrees centigrade. Scubapro is also a fairly good brand and I don't think you can really go wrong with their gear.
