Got this with some other used stuff. Looks like a MK5 SPEC but has a plastic saddle. Is it a late MK5 model or a saddle swap?

Looks like a late model Mk5 to me... I'm not aware of any saddles that are a match and I do have a couple Mk5 s just like that one.

Respectfully,

James

MK5s from mid 80's and onward did have the plastic saddle.
The flat metal yoke screw puts this one from the mid 80s, by 1988 MK5's had the plastic top yoke screws along with plastic saddle.
The metal saddles seem to have disappeared right around the time the SPEC version showed up.
It is interesting to see that there was a MK5 SPEC with no saddle at all in the 1983 catalog.

Nice!

You have got the best version of MK5 (I do not like the plastic knob of the subsequent, latest version).
I have three exactly like your, which I recently converted to DIN and plan to use for the rest of my life.
Parts still readily available, excellent performances and reliability.

It came with a beautiful 150 BA so probably 85-87 then.
