So I bought an MK25/G250HP setup, I'm thinking about going for a Classic Plus, what are the advantages over the nighthawk besides not being a back inflating BCD? My guy is asking about $810 with the Air 2 for it. Has anyone used the Aquateck Air 3? I've heard it's kind of cheaply made, is this true?
Thanks to all!!!

I have the Knighthawk with Air 2 and love it. If I were buying again, I would get a regular Octo, it's much easier for OOA situations than the Air 2. But for now I'll just change my primary reg's hose to about 1 foot longer.

I don't see a vested BC as having any advantages over anything :)

I use a nighthawk as my warm water BC. Not a single complaint.

$810!!!!! for the Classic? Scubatoys.com $599 with air2(and a warranty). I really like my Classic, I like the mobility it gives me at the surface. I like the ability to be vertical. I mean at the surface, before anybody starts the jacket bc's suck comments. Just my .02

I agree. I love my knighthawk and love the Air2 also. If this concerns you, you can always add a separate octo but I personally think the Air2 is a good way to go for me. Most of my dives are tropical and to me this is just as safe, if not safer (my opinion) as having a separate octo. I do have an extra long hose on my primary.

What length?

I was trained in the Classic Plus, when I was done the same instructor suggested I not purchase the classic plus but a back inflate style instead. I got the knighthawk and love it. I use it for warm water and cold water. I see the additional advantages of the knighthawk (other than back inflate bouyancy pluses) in greater mobility and adjustability, comfort and lower price. The knighthawk is just a better BC, and its cheaper. But some like the jacket style and there is no accounting for taste.

If you want an Air 2 style inflator, just get the Air2. You won't be saving money by getting a regular inflator and then not using it.

MSRP on the Classic plus w/A2 is only $781, why they would charge so much over MSRP I don't know, but thats a rip off! You haven't filled out your profile so I don't know if you are even talking about US dollars or not though. Fill out your profile.

Beyond the stated advantages of back inflate BCs like the KH, the Classic can be a bit difficult to get in and out of, if it fits properly (that is snugly, or else your tank will move around), because it doesn't have the shoulder release buckles. No shoulder release buckles is cleaner--and with the Classic offers the apparent advantages of wrap-around air (but you'll need to really fill the Classic at the surface to keep your head out of the water in rougher seas, because the air moves up into your shoulders). I used a Classic for years and it's a great BC--rugged as can be. But it really cleans things up in the front having the air in the back. Moreover, a tightened up KH will keep your tank rock solid on your back, and you can don and doff it with ease (just pop the buckle). My 2 cents only.

I used the Classic Plus once and was not thrilled with it. . . I took it because my buddy who was a farily new diver was having issues with having it stay still on her. Since it was smaller, it was tight on me so didn't move. I perfer a BC that you can adjust shoulder straps - if you get a Classic Plus, you have to make sure it fits snug. I just wasn't impressed. . . I like adjustable straps. And for my friend,

I have no experience with a Nighthawk.
