hi all

new to this forum - been lurking for a while but hoping to get into it.

Recently got into diving and starting to purchase gear now after being on rental in the past and i wanted some assistance on how to size Scubapro gear.

Specifically i'm looking at the Nighthawk BC and while my rental used to be the T Force in XL, my LDS is recommending the Nighthawk in L which seems a little strange.

I visited SP's website but cant find any information on how to actually size BC's etc.

Can anyone throw any light on how a BC is actually sized? does it work on back length? Height? where does the cummerband actually sit? ON the belly or hte hips like a hiking backpack?

any tips/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

The dealer should have a size chart. It's loosely based on hight/weight. ScubaPro (in my opinion) runs a little on the larger end of what you might expect. Cummerband ususally sits around the bellyish. Can you try on a large? If it's the same brand I think that the sizing should be similar for different models.

I bought a Knighthawk Large and I sometimes use XL BCs in other brands....so that doesn't seem to strange to me. Sorry I'm not familar with the T Force though. I am 5'10 (1,78m) and the cumberbun sits covers my navel nicely. My suggestion is try to find a way to try one on because they feel great.... and even better in the water (I guess you already know its a backinflate). I hope somebody else can fill you in more. Happy Holidays!

well, i cant help you on how the sizing works, i just know that SP sizing is very different along the whole line. I have the Knighthawk and love it, im 6'5 about 275 fairly athletic build and I wear the XL, its a tough short, since I carry most my height in my torso, hope this helps some.

My cummerbund sits about my mid stomach, but remember i carry my height from the waist up.

Thanks for the responses - i've checked Scubapro's website and there doesnt really seem to be a sizing policy on how their BC's should be sized. The only information regarding BC's that they provide is LIFT capacity in lbs or kgs.

anyhow, from the responses above, i'm guessing that the cummerband on BC's should sit around the belly/navel area. I kept thinking along the lines of backpacks and hipbelts and thought that cummerbands should sit on the hips which is a little lower down.

Incidently i picked up the Knighthawk today in L and had a play with it for a couple of hours in the pool - felt great, very different to the jacket style BC that i used but definately something i could get used to quickly!! cant wait to take it out in the sea!

Thanks again for all the responses.

cheers
