Was doing some pool dives yesterday and testing out some gear. The shop sales guy recommended I try out the ScubaMax. I was hesitant mainly due to price as this thing is pretty cheap. After hooking it up, it felt solid and in the water it breathed like a champ. Obviously in warm low depth freshwater, a lot of regulators are going to breath well but this one breathed as well as any I have tried before it. I came away very impressed. With the odd pricing in this industry, it shouldn't surprise me but it did.

So I was wondering from if anyone has tried a bunch of regs at depth including this one, what are your thought on this reg? How has it held up? How easy was it to service?

Forum searches are pretty thin, but those I found have been positive. Before I plunk down the money, I just want to make sure.

Thanks for any comments/advice.

I believe that regulator is made by Ocean Divers Supply and is essentially the same as several name brand regulators.

I have had these regs (different brand, but same reg) to 260' in 45 degree water. I cave dive with them, have used them for back gas, deco regs, stage regs, and they have just been re-purposed as my sidemount regs. They make the regs for Salvo, Dive Rite, Oxycheq, and Sea Elite to name a few. They don't breathe quite as well as my Apeks, but I trust them just as much. Great regs. Even better when you consider the money.

I have dozens and dozens of customer using them.....actually more than dozens and dozens. They all love them. Good breathers, easy to maintain, and very reliable. We have rebuilt hundreds of them for annual service. You can't go wrong with this product, especially given the savings when you buy.

The manufacturer ODS is highly competant and well respected, no need to doubt them.

I have bought regulators from them for about 10 years now and never had any reason to doubt their ability to produce first rate, well priced, easy to maintain equipment.

Enjoy the price saving and rest assured, its a perfectly fine regulator for almost all diving scenarios.

Hey Phil, will you sell them w/ a 40" hose? I'm thinking of picking up a couple more stage regs now that my other ones are on my Nomad :)

We are a SCUBA MAX dealer. We carry all scuba max regs. Not all are on the web site. If anyone is interested in them and dont see it,just e mail me. We have low prices and fast delivery.

George

Do you also sell service kits for your Scubamax regs?

I ordered a set from divesports.com, looks like it might make it to me before my dives Thursday/Friday... if it does, I'll post a review this weekend.
