While we wait for @cardzard or Roxanne to give a more authoritative response:

1.) Ocean Encounters is the onsite dive op. Here's their equipment rental page. Considering that a large group will be coming, if you wear anything in an usual size (e.g.: I wear size 15 shoes; maybe you need a 2XL BCD), better contact them well in advance and discuss availability, and make a reservation for rental gear if you can.

2.) The water stays warm year round. Unless you are very cold-sensitive, I imagine a 5 mm wetsuit will be fine, if not overkill. I'm chunky and cold-tolerant; I intend to dive a 3 mm shorty and could dive just 't-shirt & swim trunks' (I've done it both ways in nearby Bonaire).

Richard.

I've just heard about this and am considering going (if there's still room). Could you tell me more? I'm a relatively new diver (4 dives so far) but will be taking my AOW class in Oct. Do we need our own gear? (All I have so far is fins, booties, snorkel and mask). What type of wetsuit do we need (e.g., 5 mm, 7)? Do we need to bring our own? What if we're coming on our own? I know it's double occupancy but how are people put into rooms together? Anything else I would need to know? Thanks!

"Single rate add 640.00"

A $640 upcharge for a private room during the high-season isn't bad, if they still have space, so you might also want to consider that. Good luck!

$640 may not be bad for high-season but it’s still a lot of money. I’d prefer not to spend less rather than more if possible.

Don't worry too much about a 'random' roommate. Anybody going can & did afford airfare and trip costs, has a shared interest, expects to peacefully co-exist and is part of a group. The process naturally 'screens' out some people who'd be problematic (e.g.: muggers) vs. random strangers on the street.

I totally understand, I hope that you have a great trip!

I meant more like people are given roommates of the same sex, correct? (Unless they are already paired up like husband & wife).

That's always been my experience on live-aboards, and whenever I've seen land-based group arrangements discussed. Same sex.

Richard.

Sorry for the late response I have been traveling. Call Bay adventures I think we still have a few spots.
They can also tell you about single rooms or other looking for a roommate,
1-888-599-3483 and ask for Al or Felix
ALL ScubaBoard members and their family member are welcome to join.
Ocean Encounter rent any gear you made need so that is your choice.
Most crew members use 3mil suit but that is personal issue if you get cold easy.
Only other thing is prepare to have fum and meet tons of new friends.

Hello Surgers,

Cathy and I have spoken with Al to pay-up in full. We are ready to go to Curacao.
