Al Mialkovsky:
Poor Tim, has to go back to Maui.

I'm diving tomorrow and Sunday, in a river where it' so swift we'll have to dive several pounds heavy.

But the water temps are up to the mid 50's so ....sweeeeeet

I'll cry for you :bawling:...I don't even want to imagine water like that!!
ummm....how many days till you come back??

No idea how long til our return because our little dream to move to Maui isn't exactly a reality with the costs of housing there now. So we may check out the Big Island next year. Who knows though, things always change.

Hey Leesa, sorry I didn't say "hi" - I've been "secluded" to the camp grounds with 24 teenagers, so it's been just a wee bit busy  and no chance to get away for 2 weeks...I am considering flying back for the get together though... I'm supposed to have some meetings close to that time, so maybe I can get them to move the dates to the week before - sure would be fun to meet everyone...

Al - if it makes you feel better, I've spent the last 2 weeks on the edge of Kaneohe bay, 3 feet of water with even less vis and no chance to even dive in... maybe that doesn't help :D I'll look forward to your return, who knows maybe prices will drop in the next year (one can always dream can't they?)

Aloha all, I'm off to Kona for a wedding now (I'm sitting at the airport) and should be heading back to Maui by tomorrow and am longing for some bottom time after being dry for 2 weeks!

Aloha, Tim

I did not intend to sound negative about the Sharks Cove location. I think its great.
I just mean to check the surf forcasts, and have an alternate location planned.

If the conditions aren't great at Shark's Cove that day, probably none of the other sites on that side (with an area large enough for us to gather) will be diveable, either.

Only other alternate site I can think of would be Electric Beach.

Maybe they'll drop, I think they'll drop some as it has gotten insane since the first of the year. Traditionally it drops there.

We did checkouts this morning in the river and I was shocked that the temps were 66 degrees. I wore my drysuit but I used no undergarments. Very comfortable with as much as 50 foot vis.

So it didn't totally suck.

Hey, I heard about these cheap grills that you can get for about 25¢ at some stores, some even have them for free :D
