Walter,

No problem. Kind of got my imagination going there though. I've heard stories about divers building regulators and stuff out of things like old carburetor parts back in the 50's, but I was really wondering about the stuff they would have used in the 30's.

Isn't L. A. County associated with the early history of scuba certificating agencies? It seems that I have read that somewhere.

You are correct. LA County was the 1st certification agency. YMCA was the 1st nationwide agency. LA county is actually about 4 years older than YMCA having been formed in 1955. For some interesting reading check out http://www.lascuba.com/

Was checking my OW notes and I have PADI starting in 1962, not 1966. I don't know where the 1962 came from, can you give a link that I can use to reference my changing the date to 1966?

Walter, thanks for the LA County link, my notes have them starting in 1954, I've ammended them to match the information on the web site.

Thanks!

The final answer:

Le Prieur founded the Club of Divers and Underwater life in 1936.

All answers came out of Scuba Diving Explained by Lawrence Martin.

What is the record depth for a chamber dive? Bonus: Give the year of the dive.

...that is marketed through DAN....

I wonder how much interest there would be if we (ScubaBordians) developed a set of SCUBA trivia questions for use with the Trival Persuit game board?
