Her new tax is a mockery. Taxes won't cover up for her horrible plans, but she promises welfare so Detroit will keep electing her and you can keep saying goodbye to more and more jobs. If the economy's already doing horrible, how does she expect to help it by taxing everybody to death. Doesn't make any sense to me, but does any Liberal philosphy do? Oh well, probalby shouldn't talk about that here, it's supposed to be a diving website...

Actually she doesn't have to care about the voters any more, this is her second and last term. At least for the spot of Govenor, maybe for Senator or something like that.

Is she still Canadian or did she get US citizen status?

You are correct, but a good leader still cares about the voters and does what the citizens want like Reagan.

Whew... glad for you Midwesterners that it is an April Fools.

There was a proposal out here in Caleefornyia to add a "tax" of $1 per fill to fund the sinking of ships for reefs. I was adamantly opposed to such a tax (at the rate I dive, I'd go broke!) because I didn't feel it was appropriate to ask all divers to fund a program to sink ships for wreck divers or create artificial reefs. I said I'd be much more supportive of a tax to help conserve natural reefs... I felt it was more important to properly fund the conservation of our natural habitat and that artificial habitat could wait until we had addressed the problems in our kelp forests. Fortunately there was enough opposition to squelch the idea.

It's not an April fools joke it is serious. Everything mentioned in this thread has been proposed by our Governer. None of it has passed yet but dont worry one way or another those of us who ares still left in Michigan are going to be paying.

Then why did the OP later post in this thread that it was an April Fools joke? If true, pretty strange. You say you want a revolution... divers of the world unite.

i saw a report earlier, Michigan is already one of the highest taxed states in America along with California, Virginia, New York and a few others, but as you see raising taxes does not solve any problems, it just makes people more reliant on the government. if it is proposed it will pass in Michigan, they have no reason to protect divers, we're not even close to being the majority here.
