Hi All,

I apologize if this is not the correct forum. My local dive shop has put together some ScubaPro packages. I would like to know if these are decent packages. I do not have any of this equipment and have generally been renting equipment because I am more of a vacation diver, but thinking about buying my own stuff finally. Any thoughts would be great. I am located in the Pacific Northwest and plan to continue to dive both cold and warm water.

Package 1:

MK 16/G250 Regulator
SmartCom with QD and compass
KnightHawk or Bella BC
Air 2 or Octopus

Package 2:
MK 16/G250 Regulator
KnightHawk or Bella BC
Air 2 or Octopus
Aladin Prime 3 gauge Nitrox Console (w/QD & compass)

I am Nitrox certified if that helps.

Thank you.

You didn't list prices. The MK 16 / G250 is a close-out reg from Scubapro, albeit it's a nice reg
for what you want to do, they should be giving you a really good price on it. I would personally
go for the Smartcom over the prime 3 gauge, and the Air2 over the octo. You can't go wrong with either BC.

Those prices are really good. The retail of the smartcom and knighthawk with air2 alone is 1,655.
You're basically getting those 2 items for about 10% off retail with a free reg., and you get the
lifetime battery replacement with the smartcom. Knowing the gear as a long time dealer, and I'm
sure others may not agree, but I would go with package #1. The smartcom, by far, is a better computer and is not the heavy clunker that the prime 3 is.

I'd avoid the air 2 and get a R190 as an octo. (or whatever the current SP downstream 2nd is) If you search on this forum you'll find several threads that hotly debate the use of an octo/inflator combo. At least check those out before you buy one.

I will take Air2. I have four Air2s that have been working great without any any any issues.

I just purchased a similar package I got ScubaPro KnightHawk with Air2 ; MK17/G250V; Aladin Prime 3 I got it for $1099.99 after a $150 rebate. I love the set up. I do wish I got the smart com though.
Either way Im sure you will be happy.

I would go with a MK17, it can dive in colder waters and as more ports than the Mk16.

For a 2nd stage I would choose either the G250v if you want to dive colder waters
or
the S600 if you like the style.

I dive a MK17, G250v + G250hp setup, but I dive in cold waters 60 F in summer.
Here everyone recommends this one over the Mk25 because

-Less expensive
-Better Performance in Cold water
-Better Performance in Murky Water
