On a Knight Hawk BC with Air2, how do you manually inflate the BC? I'm considering whether to get a BC with an Air2 or a regular inflator and I don't quite see how it works on the Air2 setup.

Interesting question. I had assumed you used the mouth piece. I'll watch this thread as I'm about to buy the Knighthawk with an integrated Atomic SS1 octo.

Just like any other, Push, Blow, Let go! From a website that sells them "The BC can also be deflated by partially depressing the rectangular purge button without removing the AIR 2 from the mouth. Breathing and oral inflation can also be performed from the BC. "

I wouldn't push and then blow. I'd blow and then push the inflator button, more efficient that way :)

Works Just as stated above. Me I love it hope you do as well.

Thanks folks, I don't know why that wasn't more obvious to me. :whack:

I was considering the same set-up, but ordered everything for my backplate and wings on saturday :)

You can put an air II on it if you want.

Since you are considering the AIRII vs a standard inflator, I would suggest searching the board for AIRII posts before you buy. There are a lot of good stories and opinions out there. You will find that manually inflating an AIRII may be the least of your worries....

I have a Knighthawk with AIR2. It's a LITTLE harder to inflate manually because you need to get the AIR2's scuba mouthpiece in your mouth (instead of a small rubber mouthpiece on a standard BC inflator) before you can blow. This is absolutely not a problem for me, but if you're prone to freak out with your regulator out of your mouth for more than a few seconds (don't flame me we've all seen it happen) then it may not be the best choice.

Also, how often do you manually inflate? For me, never - unless I am purposefully practicing the procedure.

Also keep in mind that with your alternate air source on your BC inflator, in an out-of-air situation you will donate your primary regulator, since your buddy can't reach the AIR2. If this is also not a problem for you, then I would go for it. It's a sturdy and stable rig, and the AIR2 reduces your number of hoses. The AIR2 breathes so well that sometimes I switch to it just to keep in practice, it's not at all a burden to use it.

MrConclusion.. Im with you, I love my air2, I dont know why the bad rap stays on with the gen. 4 regs. mine has never given me a moments trouble and breathes as well as a lot of primary regs on the market. and I dig not having an extra hose, and a reg hanging on my neck. :-)
