Since you are considering the AIRII vs a standard inflator, I would suggest searching the board for AIRII posts before you buy. There are a lot of good stories and opinions out there. You will find that manually inflating an AIRII may be the least of your worries....

If you get the air II, here is something to note. Each year, I do the yearly service (to maintain the Scubapro lifetime warrantee), I had to bring back the bc and reg and have the shop make the AIR II less "sensitive". Your regulator and AIR II must be tuned together. The AIR II had a slight air leak, from the mouth piece on both occasions. It seems like it was just a simple adjustment, but it was a pain having to go back to the LDS. Otherwise I have had a great experience.

I mount my knife using zip ties to the shoulder D-Ring. This is fairly easy to do as the sheath has some holes that I can route the zip tie to. You can tie the hanging end(handle end, in my case) to the webbing. Works like a charm. It's also not a permanent change to the equipment as I just snip them off when I don't want to the knife mounted anymore....

Humanfish - I use zip ties a lot, too - they're pretty secure and cheap enough to cut away whenever i want to. But I got a knife with a heavy duty strap mount, and I have it mounted to the weight retention strap, but on the "BC" side of the buckle, not on the "weight pocket" side. It doesn't interfere, but looks kind of silly. I am thinking about switching to hose mount.

I guess we all dive in differing situations but - for the number of times I've actually needed my knife (0) I'm very comfortable knowing that I have a nice SS knife folded up in that tiny compartment under the left weight pouch (on my KnightHawk). (It's only good for that and holding onto my pencil ...)

I just bought the Knighthawk and haven't had a single dive with it yet so what do I know, right!!?!

It's pockets seem near worthless. It seems that while diving if one reaches back and unzips it's little flat pocket all the contents are likely to fall right out. I suppose one could actualy say it only has 1 pocket because the folding/dropdown pocket takes up all the room inside one of them anyway.

If there had been a Zeagle Stiletto dealer in town and I could have verified size and fit I would have probably bought the Stiletto if for no other reason than it's pockets.

So... now I'm done degrading the BC I just bought. Are the pockets really that bad?

Uh... Yes... And as far as fitting a Zeagle... call any dealer and give height, weight, waist, and they should be able to nail the size exactly. We do it all the time.... Large shoulders on a medium waist panel. XXL waist with medium shoulders... off the shelf medium, etc. Or just PM ScottZeagle and he can tell you the size... But if it's too late now... ooops.

You and Joe are good salesmen!!!!!!
I almost bought a reg and a BC form Joe 10 days ago. Have relatives in Arlington who could have picked up the Atomic for me so I would have had a warranty and you could actually sell it to me. You guy's are good salesmen and have a really good reputation around here. That reputation is why I called.

Yeah, I guess it's too late. My wife choose the Isla so I'll use her pockets!!!

Thanks for comments Larry.

My knighthawk has a roll away pocket that I use when diving for collecting objects, and I generally have a folded knife in there as well, even when it's rolled away. In the other pocket, I keep a safety sausage..it fits perfectly....

I was thinking about the roll out pocket on the knighthawk how to keep it streamlined to the body. I was thinking you could probably modifiy it by adding a bungee loop in to the bottom of it to slap around your leg. Would add it on almost like a thigh pocket, while keeping it streamlined to the body. How it is know it just hangs out into the stream when unrolled. I have found the pockets are pretty useless on the knighthawk. I got used to this by using boltsnaps/caveline on items I want accessible and clipped off to D-Rings and thigh pockets on the suits.

I finally did buy the Knight Hawk w/ Air 2, and now I can't wait to dive with it. My initial question was more of a 'I know this is supposed to work, so why isn't it working for me' kind of thing. My real concern with the Air 2 was maintaining buoyancy control during an OOA ascent. I totally understand that in an OOA situation that I will be donating my primary reg. My concern was on venting the bc if the Air 2 is in your mouth. I suppose that would still place the Air 2 above the bc but it doesn't seem by much. Once I had a chance to look over a Knight Hawk in person I realized that this wasn't a problem with this bc because it has multiple dump valves.

I gave the pocket thing a lot of thought, albeit after I had purchased the bc. ;) What I've done is buy a Dive-Rite thigh pocket and a weight belt. I also have a couple of the belt loop type small D-ring/female QD on it as well. In this way the bc can move independently of the pocket and vice versa offering a little more freedom of movement. I'll save the fold out pocket in the Knight Hawk for if I need an extra pocket during a dive for some unforeseen reason.

Since I've always liked playing around with buoyancy and trim in the water I started thinking about weight distribution with my new gear. One thing that occurred to me was that in the event I had to D&D my gear there was going to be a problem if all of my weight were on the bc. My gear would become heavy and I would become positively buoyant, not good. I thought about just adding enough weight to offset myself and me wetsuit but the weight belt I mentioned earlier sits too high up under the lower edge of the bc to make putting weights on the belt comfortable. Eureka, add a short lanyard to the weight pocket with a doggie leash QD and attach it to the small D-ring on my belt only if I ever need to. Once I get it in the water I can figure out if I need to use one or both pockets to make a D&D easier. Of course the odds of needing to do a D&D in rec diving are pretty slim, but I figured it's better to be prepared rather than thinking 'if only I could...' at 90 fsw. :)
