I have been told by many people I look younger then 44, which I'll be in 12 more days.

I'm sorry Natasha - I dont like to call you a liar - but there is no possible way you are going to be 44 within 2 weeks!!!

You look sooo much younger from the pictures I've seen!

(Sorry people - I was just in complete shock when I read this as I thought Natasha was early 30's!!!!)

Natasha,

We have something in common. No one believes we are the age we are. They think you are 15 years younger than you are and they think I've 15 years older. It all evens out.

that is waterproof and sweatproof. Before diving I put it all over my face, arms and legs. It is SPF 50 (I think). When I have been on dives (I am a newbie, not many dives yet) I did not see anyone else worrying about protecting themselves from the sun. I guess with the wind blowing they don't feel the heat and don't worry about burning??
My instructor was great, but I did notice that she had a great body yet her face was very leathery looking and wrinkled. She didn't seem to think that sun protection was a big deal. Also, she told me that often her hair will break off from being in the pool so much. I am sending her some deep conditioner as a thank you gift.
:) I think that we are all beautiful in the water! But I want to keep from getting wrinkly any sooner than I have too. I am already combating gray hair!! LOL

Does anybody know of a REALLY waterproof sunblock for the face?

I am really paranoid about sun protection but I've never found one that resists perspiration and water.

It has the official seal of the united states lifesaving association on it. It's the lifeguard formula. I used it all summer while lifeguaring and had no problem. The best I have used yet!
Anything with the lifeguard seal or lifeguard approved would be good.

on the facial sunscreen front. I've tried several different facial sunscreens over my dive career and most, even those labeled for the face, make my face sting like all get out. To the point that I would be dancing around trying to find clean water to try to wash it off. If I put it on first thing in the morning before sweating.....it didn't sting, but as soon as I started to sweat it stung like my face was burning hot. Forget reapplying after diving!!! And if I applied it to my face after starting to sweat.....YEEHAWWW WOWIE, it hurt like a :fury:!

I've found one product that works for my face. I buy a couple tubes of it every summer to last the season. It's Baby Blanket Sunblock Stick for Babies. 45+ SPF with Zinc Oxide. It even says "non-stinging" on the side! Fancy that! It's also labeled waterproof too. I put this stuff on and it lasts the whole day for me. Heck, I am sure it's the zinc oxide that gives it most of it's staying power.

p.s. wrecncaver: i grew up next to the pacific. salt and chlorine run through my bloodstream. freshwater? eek!

:eek:ut:

Oh but if you have never dove the Great Lake's shipwrecks you don't know what your missing!!!!! Wooden boats that went down over 100 years ago, intact, and ready to be explored. You don't know what your missing! Besides, none of that saltwater to mess up your gear.

soaking something in a brine solution is called pickling---if anything you will well "preserved" when you get to old age:D

dear wrecNcaver,

your description of great lakes diving sounds so good, i was about to invite myself out for a visit/dive trip. but then i glanced at jbd's response, and started laughing so hard i fell out of my chair.

when the bruises heal and the broken bones mend, can i come dive with you?

jbd, hush now!

judy

:D

sorry for knocking you out of your chair--I don't usually have that effect on people:wink:

When you're all healed up I would like to invite you to dive with us this summer when we make a trip to the Mackinac Straits for some wreck diving.

A good soaking in fresh water will remove some of the salt just like soaking a country ham:D

OK---I'll hush for now:)
