I have never done this before but I just wanted to give a shout-out to a great product I found the other day. I have been looking around for a case to put on y new iPhone, and really could not find one I liked. Then it hit me, find one that reflects my intent in SCUBA diving! Did a quick search and found Insomniac Arts makes a LOT of different diving-related styles. The cost was comparable (or better) to what I found at the local stores, the shipping was VERY fast, and the best part is it looks GREAT on my phone. They even sent me a "10% off next order" coupon. Now my son wants one for himself :)

I just got the Watershot case today for my trip next week to Cozumel:wink: I have iPhone 4 (also fits 4S). Will try to report back after using it. I got the red filter, too, for underwater video.

So far, from my initial impressions, I like it. It is definitely well made, rugged, has a glass lens cover. It works with a free app to shoot videos or stills, saves them in separate folders. It looks like it tags everything with GPS coordinates. It allows you to use GoPro plates. I really like it so far, will see how it performs underwater:wink:

Here is a quick youtube preview, I found: http://youtu.be/Vk93sSSTuoA

I'm thinking about getting the Watershot. How did it perform on your trip to Coz?

Awesome!!! I was really happy with this combo. I took it all the way down to 130 ft deep. It didn't flood, it didn't fog. The only issues were iPhone battery related. It lasted for about two 75-80 minutes dives, barely. I tried to put my phone into standby all the time underwater and when on the boat during our surface intervals (about 90 minutes long). I ran out of battery only twice near the end of our dives, the last 5-10 minutes (out of 14 dives, I took down with me). No biggie!!!

I really liked the red filter. It helped with video, esp. up to about 60 ft deep, after that it became useless. It's a wet filter, so you can take it off underwater, but really small, so be careful, don't drop it... I still kept it on though. I found out that it was easier to correct for white balance in iPhoto (and iMovie, too) than when shot without it. The disadvantage was that the red filter cut out one stop of light so most of my pics of darker places, i.e. under coral overhangs, in swim-throughs weren't as sharp... I really needed a extra light for those situations!!! In Coz though with lots of white sand reflecting the penetrating sun, it was pretty cool and I got decent amount of sharp pictures, esp. at shallower depths. Also, when shooting I got into a habit of taking at least 2-3, sometimes more, pics of the same subjects and one usually came out the sharpest.

For my next trip, I'm planning to stick with the iPhone, probably upgrade to 4S (better low light sensitivity and 1080 HD video), and get the Backscatter photo/video light package for GoPro Hero cameras (THIS ONE HERE) and add the Watershot Pro Mount to attach it together. I might opt for a larger light though, at least Sola 800. This should allow me to take better photos and videos in those low-light situations I was complaining. Plus, I can take this setup on my night dives, too. I'm fairly confident that it would be just fine!!! Cannot wait.

Will add a few underwater pics below, so you get an idea...

which version of the App were you using?
In 1.4 we improved battery consumption quite a lot
