I'll second S.E. Aruba Fly 'n' Dive. My wife and I got certified through them last summer.

As for the exposure suit, it depends on how long you intend to be in the water and how easily you get cold. I think most people are covered by anything from a dive skin to a full 3mm w/ hood, although I have heard of a few that use 5mm as well. However, I think those were people that also like incinerating, erh tanning, on the beach. I hate people that can tan like that and not burn. ;)

The DM on my boat was from Chicago and was wearing a 5mm shortie and was wanting a 5mm full. He said the natives wouldn't dive anything less than a 5mm full with hoods and sometimes gloves.
When asked what he wore when he went back to the states..drysuit even in Mexico!

Happy to chime in on this one!

I have been diving off Aruba for about 10 years now. I always use Pelican so I can not speak first hand about the other ops. Pelican has always taken exceptional care of their divers (my observation). Also, one of thir instructors now takes divers out and photographs the dive...which is pretty cool. $40.00 for a CD with about 250 pix and about 7 min of video...remains a highlight of my diving there in early April this yr.

For me, I use a full 3mm with my 7mm boots from diving at Dutch Springs, Pa. I always dive with a full suit because I generally get 3 dives per day...by the middle of the 3rd dive I get chilly. The full suit helps when I am diving "often".

Only gear I get from the shop is a tank and weights. 'Nuther nice thing about Pelican is that you can keep your gear at their pier...bring a hanger for your wetsuit!

Email me if you want to see the pictures Pelican's guy took.

Enjoy,
Chris

Chris,
You're a brave man diving dutch springs with a 7mm. When I dive up there I'm in a drysuit! Did my ow up there and I FROZE in a 7mm. I hate wearing a drysuit though, I think I might consider finding a really good semi-dry 7mm. Any suggestions?

Chris,

Thanks for the information, if you could email those photos to me that would be GREAT. My email address is: padi1029@optonline.net

Look forward to getting the photos.

Thanks again,
Chris
