You missed the point. The symbols 2+2=4 isn't some hard and fast rule that can never change as you tried to assert.

I'm glad you brought this up because all the literature uses the words scuba dived instead of dove. It always bothered me

I use dived as dove just doesn't feel comfortable to me personally, even though it may be grammatically acceptable; however, when people start typing "I have dove such and such a place" it's a whole different matter altogether. :mooner:
