Scuba Dive in Texas

I live in texas and im going down to the gulf to dive. Can anybody tell me the best locations?

texas clipper, flower gardens. our bread & butter (respectively).

The ones mentioned above are the "cream of the crop". If you're looking for shore dives, hit the nearest airport and head for Cozumel. However, there are a couple of lakes and scuba parks near the Houston area (288 Lake and Mammoth Lake) for divers who don't want to do boat trips, but they are what they are...landlocked freshwater lakes and not truly in the Gulf. If there are any truly good shore dive sites on the Gulf, I'm not aware of them, but others may have their "secret spots".

Blue Lagoon near Huntsville is a good training spot....if you just need to get wet.

Padre has shop that goes out to a wreck - I think. You can dive the "O" off Pensacola, FL.

Can you get a little more specific its a long way between Galveston and South Padre.

You can look at the following website, South Padre Diving, South Padre Activities, South Padre Snorkel Trips, for American Diving at South Padre Island. They are running most weekends now and will be diving during the week some over the summer.
