It's slightly rubbery so the boundary of the glass and the protector can be felt with a fingernail

Alternatively, if the screen doesn't feel like glass, it has the cover.

use your thumb nail in a corner and give it a scratch- I thought i had a scratched glass too but the 'scratch' wasn't smooth and eventually realised it was a plastic screen saver - it is a very good contact and im betting its on

I think I put protectors on for my screen protectors!

OK, the real purpose of this update on my opening post is to praise Shearwater. To do so I have to eat some crow. When I received my Perdix AI, I slipped off the wrapper that was on the computer case and didn't notice that on the inside of the wrapper was the warning not to remove the screen protector (one has to tear open the wrapper to see this message). Then, when I looked at the screen it appeared to be a bit wavy. So I figured the screen protector was for shipping only and removed it.

I guess that makes me stupid since I haven't heard of anyone else doing that. The above posts made me rethink what I had done.

I contacted Shearwater, told them what I had done, and asked how much to replace the screen. They said send it in, and we'll fix it. So, last Thursday I sent it Priority, and today (Monday) I have it back with a new screen (face plate), screen protector, battery, O-rings, and pressure and functional tests. No charge.

Not only is this computer a delight to use, but it is backed up by superlative customer support!

    Amazing...

These computers are already worth every penny. With support like that, it makes it a no-brainer.

Shearwater is simply a no brainer if you are a long term diver, as the support for any problems are dealt with like no other. Now I haven't had any issues with the 2 Perdixes I've owned (sold one recently as I picked up a Perdix AI). But the stuff I've read from others, it is quite impressive. They stand behind their products 100%

I don't think there is a single other dive computer manufacturer around that would come close to that level of customer service!

From this story they also stand with their customers.

    Fantastic!
