I am considering a gavin scooter - the little one - does anyone know if there is a web site?
I would also like any concerns/issues as well as comparable brands possibly.

I am looking for the little one as we do not have extended cave penetration here that would warrant a bigger one - any ideas on price and availability?

Thanks,
Big T

Thanks Uncle Pug,

Let me guess - No need o look elsewhere if I read you correctly? I am not expecting to, but good analysis requires checking the options, someone just offered me a pair of scuba pro scooters for $1k - I nixed that without any problem...

I have seen somewhere a scooter that looks just like the Gavin, called RS or US - something like that... What's that about?

Silent Submersion....
Gavin clone..... reversed *engineered*......
It is made out of flexible HMWP and has a twist grip trigger....
Check out the techdiver archives for the recent *discussion*....
Butt, Butt, and re-Butt....
All things considered Gavins are $1k less and guaranteed for life...
And George goes where the others don't....
On a Gavin.....

I'm getting two....

Hmm - it wasn't silent submersion - I'll have to go look for it - looks like a reverse engineered thing as well - it looked identical (so was the prices).

as far as the gavin site being cocky - well, we have heard that about George before and like Pug said - he goes where nobody else does, so I can live with it...

My biggest gripe at the moment is that a friend on the east coast got a backplate - OMS, with a 100# bungee wing... Oh, there are doubles in the future... But ight now I'm about to go out there and cut some hoses, this is a good friend and I hate to see her being sent the wrong way - damnit.
Cocky is not the worst thing that can happen to people...

I just checked the SS web site and either my memory is faulty (???)
Or there has been a price reduction.....

Gavins are still slightly cheaper....
But then you have to buy your own charger....
And put up with cockiness....
And a lifetime warrenty....

well, those are all things that are unacceptable... hehe...

Ok - I tried to do the prudent thing - but I guess I'm ending up jus getting the Gavin as I can't think of any reason to look any other places...

You're right uncle Pug, it is ss - I had the UV name stuck in my head still cheaper to get the original - looks to me like that is an exact copy...

Oh well -

Price reduction. Amazing what happens when there's competition!

FYI, the Silen Submersion site. However, I recommend you get a Gavin.
