A beautiful day for diving offshore NC. Winds 5-10 seas 1' or less. Sunday morning, the ocean was slick as glass. By afternoon the wind had picked up slightly but the seas stayed around 1'. We went to the Schurz for the first dive and the Spar for the 2nd dive. The Schurz had 40' of vis and water temps near 71. 2-3 sand tigers cruised the wreck, but the show was watching the amberjack chasing the baitfish. Our second dive was on the Spar, and true to her reputation 15+ sand tigers cruised the wreck at different locations. The coolest sight was a school of 100+ barracuda swimming almost motionless in the current. Water temps on the Spar were near 70 and vis was 30'. Our trip was aboard Sea Quest II from Discovery Diving in Beaufort. The other creatures observed were: deer cowrie shell, arrow crab, queen angel fish, grouper, black bass, silver snapper, bonito, spotted morays, lionfish.

Sounds like you had great NC conditions. Reading your report makes me wanna go back to NC now!!!!!! I can't wait to return to NC to do some more wrecks.

Thanks for posting.

Yes it was great in NC Sunday we dove a 6 pack (Only 5) out of Morehead with Olmypus shop was fine and the captain and first mate were GREAT! Me and one of the Gal's I dove with are fairly new so we stayed inshore went to the Hutton first (I think) and it was great vis about 40 feet and a rare Sunfish was spotted no sharks but lots of the other normal sealife and it was a lot of fun practicing my bouyancy going thru the twisted arches and loops.
Second dive was on the Indra vis was only 20 and although it was cool not as good as the first dive.
By the way these were my first Nitrox dives ,,,my 45 minute dives were a new long for me which I think I could have done better but got chilly in a 3 mil in the 70 degree water temp....Just wanted to share this with my fellow North Carolinans.

Congrats on new nitrox cert and also for braving the water with just a 3 mil. A couple weekends ago I got cold in 73 degree water with my full 5 and shortie 3 (with hood). :D
