Had a lovely solo dive tonight at my local mudhole. We're in the midst of a heavy plankton bloom right now, so I concentrated mostly on close-up shots (because that's about all I could see) ... but figured I'd share. You'll see quite a bit of particulates in the background ... vis varied with depth from about 2 feet to about 8 feet. But some of these were worth sharing ...

First up, a tiny red octopus hanging out of a shell ... this octopus is maybe 2 inches in length ...

Stubby squid ... between 1 and 2 inches in length, and very unhappy with me for shining a light in its eyes ...

Painted anemone ...

Wolf eel ... little guy, his head's about the size of my fist ...

IMG_9854.jpg

Bay pipefish ... it's unusual to find one this color around here, they're usually green ...

... and finally, a tubeworm ...

As much as I love the wreck diving here in the Great Lakes, I'm just so envious of the bio-diversity of other areas......

Thanks for sharing Bob.

Very nice pics. What kind of lens were you using Bob?

Bob's local mudhole is Redondo, not Alki.

Almost exclusively at this site I'm using a Canon T2i (cropped sensor DSLR) with 60mm macro lens.

Here's one I took last night ...
