Had the opportunity to check out a prototype of the soon-to-be-available "Infinity" adjustable harness system from Halcyon today. Gotta say, it's pretty innovative in an elegantly simply way.

Provides all the benefits of a harness made from a single, continuous piece of webbing while addressing the top three issues raised relative to hog rigs:

  • "I have trouble getting in/out of a one-piece harness..."
  • "Hog straps are uncomfortable on dry land..."
  • "It's a pain to adjust a hog rig when switching environments/exposure suits..."

Their approach is brilliantly simple and should appeal to both the "delux harness" crowd as well as many of the most fervent "hog harness or bust" divers as well. Much more easily adjustable than any other system out there, but still with a single, continuous piece of webbing. How do they do that without introducing a bunch of buckles/snaps/straps, etc? You'll have to wait and see!

:D

I may need to pick one up when they become available!

We had the opportunity to see a prototype of the Infinity harness last fall, and I think it will be well received. Halcyon has some very innovative products they will be introducing in the near future. :palmtree: Bob

...sounds interesting.....by the way, how soon is 'soon' ?

...saw a prototype 'last fall' ? hmmm, it's now almost 'this' fall...wonder when the consumer will be able to see/read up on this harness ?

Let me guess... They did the same thing I did with my backplate after owning it for 5 minutes.. made slots at the waist that allow the belt to slide back and forth like the backpacks did 35 years ago?

:worthless:

I agree with TC. Without being able to see some pics, or a good description of how the new harness works, everyone is just in a blind holding pattern.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that, based on the information provided thus far, this could either be a good thing, or possibly not

Thanks for the heads up guys!

For what its worth it is not hard to make an adjustable harness with a single piece of webbing, but the devil is in the details regarding how strong, complicated and/or reliable it is, so the details are important.

Please either provide useful information or just refrain from starting a thread as "You'll have to wait and see!" threads are a PITA and are basically just another form of trolling.

OK - consider this thread withdrawn!
