CBulla:OK - this is a do again dive. Why? Not because it was 'cool' (it was), but it was different.. it seemed much more quiet. Very zen.
Anyway, we hit the water before sunset and did our swim out. I assume it was kind of pretty since I had my contacts out to do the dive wearing that neat Hydroptics mask, so clarity of what I was looking at outside of the immediate few feet was not there. Once we did our decent, the vis was pretty rough... maybe 2', a little tight for being able to keep together. In fact, we came down over all the sea weed so the bottom was 12' of soft stuff that was decieving.. through the sea weed was pebbles, but thats not enough to make me stick around. Depth was 13', so I indicated to CMU that we we're headed west!
It wasn't long and we were past the sea weed and we could get down to business hanging out and looking for teeth. Oh, I should mention the thermocline at roughly 13.6', about a degree or two... now and again warm swirls would waft across the legs leaving me wonder if I was just piddled on by a manatee venting its wetsuit... or if it was CMU.. maybe Cooltech..
I haven't even bothered counting teeth yet today, I do know I found a meg minus dental plate, at least a dozen lemons, again as many dusky's, some sand sharks, blah blah, you get the idear.. but I spent the majority of the time either clearing my mask (shaving today!) or just looking at wildlife in general. I didn't really find teeth for a long time then, somehow, I changed how I was holding my light and teeth (color, shape, etc) were standing out like crazy! Incidentally, the mask gets a pooling effect in middle of field of vision if looking down and there is water in it, that was driving me nutz! Something to note, once the sun truely set and we were past twilight, the visibility in the water cleared up to roughly 10'. Refraction of light... what a wonderful thing
Anyway, we thumbed the dive at 65 minutes. A totally beautiful, tranquil dive that I would do again and again.
