We had about 30 people show up this morning to clean up a mile or so stretch of the Santa Fe River in High Springs. There were 8 divers in the water with the rest of the people in canoe-marans and jon boats to collect the trash. After 3 hours in the water we managed to collect 1552 lbs of trash! Amazing, but also sad that there was so much trash in that small stretch of river. Thanks to Fritzi Olson of Current Problems for spearheading the cleanup efforts, Pete Butt for organizing this cleanup, and all the volunteers who gave up their Saturday to help make this area of the river better!
